대전시와 대전평생교육진흥원이 28일 오전 10시 30분 진흥원 대강당에서‘대전광역시 평생학습도시 선포식 및 제1회 대전 시민명예학위 수여식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 이장우 대전시장, 5개 구청장, 대전광역시의회 교육위원회 위원장과 예산결산특별위원장, 시민명예학사 학위자 등 300여 명이 참석했다. 

대전광역시 평생학습도시 선포식은 평생학습을 시민 행복과 지역발전의 핵심 가치로 삼아 원하는 시민은 누구나 언제라도‘배움’을 경험할 수 있도록 지원하고 이를 바탕으로 일류도시 대전으로 나아가겠다는 의지를 표현하는 시간으로 진행됐다.

특히, 내빈과 시민 학습자들이 선언문을 함께 낭독하며 모두가 평생 학습의 주체임을 인식하고 배움공동체로서의 의미를 부여했다.

이어진 행사에서는 제1회 대전 시민명예학위 수여식이 진행됐다. 

이장우 대전시장이 대전시민대학 총장으로서, 시민명예학위 학사 학위자 한 명 한 명에게 시민명예학사 학위를 수여했다. 

시민명예학사 학위는 올해 7월에 모집하여 200시간 평생교육과정을 이수한 시민에게 부여됐다.

대전 시민명예학위제는 학위취득 기준에 부합한 시민에게 대전시장 명의의 명예학위를 수여하는 비공식 학위제도이다. 관내 유관기관에서의 평생학습 이수시간을 인정한 전국 최초 사례이다.

이장우 시장은 “이번 선포식과 시민명예학위 수여식을 통해 대전이 새로운 평생학습도시로 나아가는 의지를 확인했으며, 앞으로 대전시도 배움과 학습이 시민의 행복과 연결될 수 있도록 정책적인 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”라고 말했다.

Daejeon City and the Daejeon Lifelong Education Promotion Agency announced that they held the ‘Daejeon Metropolitan City Lifelong Learning City Declaration Ceremony and the 1st Daejeon Citizen Honorary Degree Award Ceremony’ at the Promotion Agency’s main auditorium at 10:30 AM on the 28th.

About 300 people attended the event, including Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo, five district heads, Daejeon Metropolitan City Council Education Committee Chairmen, Budget and Settlement Special Committee Chairmen, and citizens with honorary degrees.

The Daejeon Metropolitan City Lifelong Learning City Declaration Ceremony was held as a time to express the will to support citizens who want to experience ‘learning’ at any time by making lifelong learning a core value of citizen happiness and regional development, and to advance to become a first-class city of Daejeon based on this.

The first Daejeon Citizen Honorary Degree Award Ceremony was held at the following event.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon, as the president of Daejeon Citizen University, awarded a citizen honorary degree to each citizen honorary degree recipient.

The citizen honorary degree was awarded to citizens who completed the 200-hour lifelong education course recruited in July of this year.

The Daejeon Citizen Honorary Degree System is an unofficial degree system that awards an honorary degree in the name of the Mayor of Daejeon to citizens who meet the degree acquisition criteria. It is the first case in the country where lifelong learning hours completed by a related institution in the city were recognized.

Mayor Lee Jang-woo said, “Through this declaration ceremony and citizen honorary degree award ceremony, we have confirmed Daejeon’s will to become a new lifelong learning city, and Daejeon City will not spare policy support so that learning and learning can be connected to the happiness of its citizens.”
