최민호 세종시장이 단식을 하면서까지 예산 통과를 요구했던 '국제정원도시박람회와 빛축제 예산'이 전액 삭감됐다.

세종시의회는 11일 열린 제93회 임시회 1차 본회의에서 국제정원도시박람회와 빛축제 예산을 재석의원 20명 중 찬성 13표, 반대 7표로 가결시켜 전액 삭감했다.

최민호 시장이 예산 통과를 요구하며 단식까지 하는 등 관련 예산 통과를 요구했으나, 이날 시의회에서 예산이 전액 삭감되면서 최 시장의 단식이 무색하게 됐다.

이날 세종시의회에서 국제정원도시박람회와 빛축제 예산이 삭감되면서 박람회와 빛축제는 사실상 개최되기 어려운 처지에 놓이게 됐다.

시의회 본회의가 열리는 11일 오전 시민단체와 세종시의회 국민의힘 의원들은 예산 통과를 촉구하는 집회를 개최하고 시의회를 압박했으나 결국 예산은 전액 삭감되고 말았다.

한편 예산 통과를 요구하며 6일째 단식 농성에 나섰던 최민호 시장은 시의회의 표결 결과가 나오기 전인 오후 4시 단식을 중단하고, 빈손으로 돌아섰다.
