최근 전기차 화재 문제가 사회적으로 관심이 뜨거운 가운데 대전 동구가 청사를 이용하는 주민들의 안전을 위해 청사 내 전기차 충전시설안전관리시스템을 구축하고 시연회를 개최했다고 8일 밝혔다.

이날 점검 시연회는 박 청장을 비롯해 대전소방본부, 동부소방서, 한국전력 관계자 등이 참석한 가운데, 현재 동구보건소 옆 지상주차장에 설치돼 있는 전기차 급속충전소에서 진행됐다.

시연 방법은 전기차 충전 중 화재 상황을 재연한 화염을 화재 감지설비인 열화상카메라가 감지해, 알람신호를 모니터링 센터와 자동소화장치에 전달하고 소화약제를 상·하로 방수해 연소 확대를 저지하는 방식으로 재연됐다.

박희조 동구청장은 “최근 연이어 발생한 전기차 화재 문제로 인해 주민들이 많이 불안해 하고 있는 상황으로, 우선 주민 이용이 많은 청사 내 전기차 충전시설을 점검하고 화재안전시스템 구축을 추진하게 됐다”며 “앞으로 관련부서와 협력해 안전사고가 발생하지 않도록 선제적 대응에 나서겠다”고 전했다.
