취임 10주년을 맞은 설동호 대전시교육감이 8일 제11대 교육감 취임 2주년을 맞아, 그 동안의 정책 추진 성과와 향후 대전교육 중점 정책을 발표하는 기자회견을 개최했다. 

이날 대전시교육청에서 실시한 기자회견에서 설동호 교육감은“지난 2년간 대전교육은 급변하는 교육환경의 변화에 대응하는 다양하고 내실있는 교육정책 추진으로 우리 학생들의 역량을 강화했다”고 평가하고 “앞으로 대전교육은 대전의 모든 학생들이 바른 인성과 창의성을 갖춘 창의융합인재로 성장할 수 있도록, 교육대전환의 시대를 선도하는 대전미래교육 추진에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 각오를 밝혔다.

지난 2년의 성과에 대해 설 교육감은 2022년 7월 제11대 교육감 취임 이래,  대전교육은 미래를 선도하는 창의융합교육, 배움과 성장이 있는 혁신교육, 교육기회를 보장하는 책임교육, 안전하고 건강한 교육환경, 소통하고 협력하는 교육행정의 5대 정책방향을 중점으로 대전교육 정책을 내실있게 추진함으로써 다양한 성과를 이루었고, 학생 개개인의 배움과 성장에 집중하며 학교교육력 제고에 각고의 노력을 기울였다고 평가했다. 

특히 다양하고 내실있는 정책 추진에 최선의 노력을 다한 결과, 교육 부문에서 전국과학전람회 대통령상, 전국교육자료전 국무총리상, 대한민국 학생창의력 챔피언대회 대상, 전국학생과학발명품경진대회 2년 연속 최우수상 등 우수한 성과를 나타냈고, 행정 부문에서도 시․도교육청 평가 결과 최우수교육청 달성, 지방교육재정 분석결과 4년 연속 최우수교육청 선정, 감사원 자체감사활동 심사결과 5년 연속 종합 A등급 달성, 위(Wee)프로젝트 우수사례 공모전 5년 연속 대상 등 대전교육의 우수성을 대내외에 입증했다고 밝혔다.

설 교육감은 또 향후 중점 추진정책으로 교육과 보육의 질 상향을 위한 유보통합 실현, 대전늘봄학교 1학년 초등학생에게 전면 시행, 전체 초등학생으로 확대, AI 디지털교과서(AIDT) 도입과 디지털 인프라 고도화, 대전온라인학교 개교와 고교학점제 전면 도입, 행정기관 기능 강화를 통한 학교 행정업무 경감을 통한 미래를 선도하는 대전교육 대전환기를 만들겠다고 밝혔다.
