문화체육관광부는 한국관광공사와 함께 국민적 걷기여행 붐을 조성하고 ‘코리아둘레길’을 지역의 대표 관광콘텐츠로 육성하기 위해, 5월 3일부터 19일까지 ‘2024년 상반기 걷기여행주간’을 운영한다. 

코리아둘레길은 동․서․남해안 및 DMZ 접경 지역 등 우리나라 외곽의 기존 걷기여행길을 연결하여 ‘대한민국을 재발견하며 함께 걷는 길’로 구축한 약 4,500km의 초장거리 걷기여행 길로 이번 행사는 코리아둘레길 걷기와 어촌체험휴양마을 체험·숙박시설 할인행사 함께 추진한다.

특히, 이번 걷기여행주간에는 문체부의 코리아둘레길 걷기와 해양수산부(장관 강도형, 이하 해수부)의 ‘어촌체험휴양마을’ 체험·숙박시설 할인행사 등을 함께 추진해 어촌관광을 알리고 어촌지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣는다. 

양 부처는 ‘국민을 위해 일하는 원팀 정부’를 구현하기 위해 문체부의 국내관광진흥과와 해수부의 해양레저관광과의 과장급 직위를 전략적 인사교류 대상으로 지정한 바 있으며 이번 사업도 걷기여행과 어촌관광의 동반성장을 위한 협업과제의 일환으로 추진한다.

문체부와 해수부는 5월 3일, 전남 목포생활도자박물관 야외광장에서 걷기여행주간 선포식과 걷기원정대 발대식을 개최한다. 사전공모를 통해 선정된 걷기원정대는 서해안의 아름다운 자연경관을 벗 삼아 전남 해남 돌머리, 경기 화성 궁평리의 어촌체험휴양마을 등을 찾아가고 코리아둘레길의 매력을 누리소통망(SNS)으로 널리 홍보한다.
