국민의힘 대덕구 국회의원 이석봉 예비후보(이하 후보)가 경선 상대였던 박경호 후보를 지지하고 나섰다.

앞서 지난달 25, 26일 양일간 실시한 경선 여론조사에서 박경호 후보는 경선에 나선 이석봉 후보를 앞서 27일 국민의힘 공천관리위원회 발표를 통해 공천을 확정지었다.

3일 이 후보는 자신의 선거캠프 황현준 사무장, 이영호 청년선대본부장, 정원태 기획팀장 등 10여명과 박경호 후보 선거캠프에 직접 방문했다. 

이날 이 후보는 박 후보와 손을 맞잡고 “총선 승리를 위해 박경호 후보와 동행하고자 한다”며 박 후보 지지를 선언했다. 이어 “경선과정에서의 노하우를 박 후보와 공유하고 국민의힘이 반드시 승리할 수 있도록 지원하겠다”며 “당선을 기원한다”고 박 후보에게 힘을 실어주었다.

박경호 후보는 보도자료를 통해 “이석봉후보는 대전시 경제과학부시장직을 훌륭히 수행하며 그 능력을 대전시민들께 인정받았고, 지역발전을 위해 많은 일을 해온 분”이라며 “이 후보의 희생과 헌신에 깊은 존경과 감사의 말씀을 드리고 싶다”고 밝혔다.

박 후보는 “이석봉 후보와 손을 맞잡고 4월 10일 본선거에서 압도적인 승리로 보답해 드리겠다”고 말하며 대덕구민들에게 지켜봐 줄 것을 당부했다.
