이스포츠의도시 대전시가 이스포츠 배틀로얄 장르의 대표 종목인 배틀그라운드 모바일 프로시리즈(이하 PMPS)와 이터널 리턴 2024 정규시즌을 단독 유치하고, 3월 1일부터‘PMPS 시즌0’을 시작으로 경기를 개최한다고 26일 밝혔다.

PMPS 결승시리즈 4개 시즌 12경기와 이터널 리턴 결승시리즈 4개 시즌 7경기, 총 19개 경기가 대전 이스포츠경기장에서 열린다. 

‘PMPS’는 국내기업인 크래프톤이 개발하여 2018년 5월 공개한 게임으로 2023년 항저우 아시안게임 최초 이스포츠 정식 종목으로 선정된 바 있다. 

2022년 기준 세계 2위의 서바이벌 슈터 게임으로 다수 인원이 배틀로얄 형태로 참여한다. 

카카오게임즈에서 서비스 중인 ‘이터널 리턴’은 2023년 7월에 정규리그 정식 오픈 이후 글로벌 게임 유통플랫폼 스팀에서 인기 순위 1위를 차지하는 등 급성장하고 있는 국산 게임으로 성장 가능성이 높은 종목이다.

특히 올해 12월 개최 예정인 ‘이터널 리턴 내셔널리그’는 최초의 지역 연고 구단 리그로 개최할 계획으로 이스포츠 구단과 해당 지자체 간의 지역 연고제 연결고리를 마련했다는 점에서 큰 의미가 있다.
