전만권 전) 천안시 부시장이 국민의힘 아산시(을) 총선 후보자로 최종 확정됐다.

국민의힘 공천관리위원회는 25일 경선결과를 발표하고 압도적인 표 차이로 이긴 전만권 국민의힘 아산시(을) 예비후보를 최종 후보로 확정했다고 밝혔다.

국민의힘 공천관리위원회는 시스템 공천을 통해 경선 집계 전 과정을 후보자들에게 공개해 예비후보 간 갈등을 방지하고 통합의 기틀을 마련했다.

이번 결과에 대해 전만권 후보는 “우리 당의 기치와 뜻에 맞춰 김길년 예비후보와의 통합을 이끌고, 아산시민의 선택을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 정책으로 정면승부하겠다”고 밝혔다.

그러면서 “함께 공정한 경선을 치러준 김길년 예비후보에게 감사와 위로의 말을 전하며, 원활한 국정운영을 위한 총선 승리에 함께해 주시길 부탁드린다”고 뜻을 전했다.

총선 승리 가능성에 대해서는 “총선을 앞두고 이미 국민의힘의 지지율은 골든크로스를 달성했다”고 평가하며 “기울어져 있던 아산시(을) 지역의 정치구도를 확실한 미래비전 제시를 통해 골든크로스 할 것”이라고 자신감을 내비췄다.

앞으로 전만권 후보는 총선체제로 조직재정비를 추진할 계획이며, 3월 초 미래비전 선포식을 통해 아산시민들의 중지를 모을 것으로 알려졌다.

국회의원 당선 시 계획에 대해서는 “국회의원다운 통 큰 의정활동을 통해 대한민국과 아산시의 미래를 여는 큰 길이 되겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다. 

한편 전만권 후보는 토목직 8급으로 첫 공직생활을 시작해 행정안전부 국장, 천안시 부시장, 행정안전부 산하 한국섬진흥원 부원장 등을 역임했다.
