충남 아산시가 GTX-C 노선의 성공적인 연장을 위해 정부, 8개 광역·기초 단체와 손을 잡았다. 

박경귀 아산시장은 박상우 국토교통부 장관, 김태흠 충남도지사, 오후석 경기도 행정2부지사, 정명근 화성시장, 박형덕 동두천시장, 이권재 오산시장, 정장선 평택시장, 박상돈 천안시장과 함께 22일 정부세종청사에서 열린 국토교통부-8개 광역·기초 단체 간 GTX-C 연장사업 상생 업무협약식에 참석했다. 

이날 협약은 지난달 25일 윤석열 대통령 주재로 열린 교통 분야 민생토론회에서 GTX 노선 연장 계획이 공식화된 것에 따른 후속 절차다.  

협약에 따라 국토부와 8개 광역·기초 단체는 GTX-C 노선 연장사업의 성공적인 추진을 위해 본선 개통 시기를 고려한 신속 추진 ,수요 확보 등 사업추진 여건 개선 및 운영 최적화 ,타당성 검증 및 인허가 등 사업절차 이행 등에 상호 협력하게 된다.  

GTX-C노선이 아산까지 연장되면 수도권 북부와 남부, 충청권이 하나의 초연결 광역 생활권으로 연결된다. 

박경귀 시장은 “윤석열 대통령과 김태흠 충남지사의 공약인 GTX-C 노선의 천안·아산 연장 계획이 본격화되어 기쁘게 생각한다”고 말했다. 

박 시장은 “아산시는 KTX·SRT, 수도권 1호선 등 국가철도망의 수혜를 톡톡히 보고 있는 도시로, GTX-C 노선 아산 연장은 지역발전 가속화에도 기여할 것”이라면서 “아산시는 여러 지방정부와 함께 사업의 성공적인 추진을 위해 최선을 다해 노력하겠다”고 말했다. 

다만 “연장 사업비를 전액 지자체가 부담하는 현 계획은 지방정부에 많은 부담이 되는 것은 사실”이라면서 “지방정부가 시민 편의와 지역발전을 위해 꼭 필요한 사업이라는 큰 뜻을 위해 함께하고 있는 만큼, 정부도 지방정부의 어려움을 헤아려 주길 바란다”고 덧붙였다. 

한편 GTX-C 노선은 기존 확정된 덕정~수원 구간에 북쪽 덕정~동두천 구간, 남쪽으로는 수원~화성(병점)~오산~평택~천안~아산 구간 연장이 추진 예정이다.
