박경귀 아산시장이 26일 신창면 행정복지센터를 찾아 주민들과 2024 상반기 열린간담회를 개최했다고 아산시가 밝혔다.

이명수 국회의원, 아산시의회 이기애·신미진 의원을 비롯해 신창면 기관 단체장 및 시민 50여 명이 참석한 가운데 개최한 이날 간담회에서 박 시장은 간담회에 앞서 “신창면은 대규모 아파트단지와 산업단지, 대학가를 중심으로 빠른 속도로 도시화가 진행되고 있으며, 그 외 지역은 농촌지역이 자리하고 있다”면서 “도농복합도시 아산의 축소판과 같은 곳”이라고 말했다. 

이어 “신창면은 신창·도고·선장 3개 면이 포함된 서부권역의 중심”이라면서 “신창IC, 서부권 중앙도서관 건립 추진 등을 통해 서부권 균형발전을 견인하는 한편, 관내 외국인 비율이 높은 신창면의 특성을 고려한 지원 정책을 펼쳐나가겠다”고 말했다. 

간담회에서 신창면 주민들은 읍내리 경사로 도로 열선 시공 ,궁화리 공장단지 소음 및 악취 문제 해결 요청 ,신창중학교 이전 부지 활용 방안 ,코레일 소유 신창역사 주변 부지 매매 건의 ,우스베키스탄 수도 타슈켄트와 자매결연 추진 제안 ,순천향대 인근 청년문화의 거리 발전 방안 등을 건의하고 관련 의견을 전달했다. 

특별히 이날 간담회에서 홍서영 아산시가족지원센터 신창분원 팀장은 이민정책을 총괄·관리하는 출입국·이민관리청(이민청)의 천안아산역 인근 유치를 지지하는 신창면 외국인 주민 1000명의 서명을 전달했다. 

현재 아산시는 충남도, 천안시와 함께 이민청의 천안아산역 인근 유치를 위한 시민 서명 운동을 진행 중이다. 

홍서영 팀장은 서명부를 전달하며 “신창면은 아산시에서 외국인 주민 비율이 가장 높은 지역으로, 지금도 계속 증가하고 있다”면서 “지역사회에 많은 관심을 두고 계신 외국인 주민들께서 이민청 유치 노력에 감사와 지지의 뜻을 담아 힘을 보태고 싶다며 서명부를 모아주셨다”고 설명했다. 

박 시장은 “큰 선물을 받았다”고 인사하고 “아산시는 전체 인구 중 외국인이 9%를 차지하고, 우리 지역 산업단지, 농촌 등에서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다”고 말했다.
