대전시가 KAIST-MIT 석학들과 함께하는 양자 인재 양성을 위해 손을 맞잡았다.

이를 위해 대전시와 KAIST는 8일 KAIST 학술문화관에서 양자과학기술 혁신을 이끌어낼 최고급 인재 양성을 위한 ‘KAIST-MIT 양자 정보 겨울학교’개교식을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

이날 행사에는 이광형 KAIST 총장, 김은성 KAIST 양자대학원장, MIT·KAIST 교수와 학생 등 50여 명이 참석해 겨울 특강 개강을 축하했다

양자 정보 과학 분야에서 세계적인 권위를 지닌 MIT와 한국을 대표하는 KAIST의 양자 교수진이 함께하는 'KAIST-MIT 양자 정보 겨울학교'는 양자 정보 과학 분야의 지식과 노하우를 교환하며 참가 학생들에게 깊이 있는 교육을 제공하기 위해 마련된 자리다.

노벨상을 수상한 볼프강 케털리(초저온 원자 연구 센터 소장)를 비롯해 세스 로이드(극 양자정보이론 센터소장), 윌리엄 올리버(양자공학 센터 소장) 등 MIT 교수진과 배준우, 문은국, 최재윤 등 KAIST 교수진 등 국내외 세계적인 양자 정보 과학 석학들이 함께한다.

‘KAIST-MIT 양자 정보 겨울학교’는 양자 정보 과학 분야에 관심을 가진 전국 학부 3, 4학년 학생 40여 명을 대상으로 8일부터 19일까지 2주간 진행될 예정이다.

개교식에서 이광형 KAIST 총장은 “국가전략기술 중 하나인 양자기술의 중요성이 점차 확대되는 가운데, 이번 양자 정보 겨울학교를 통해 참가 학생들에게 양자 정보 과학 전 분야에 대한 폭넓은 지식과 시야를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”라고 말했다. 

한편, 대전시는 KAIST 주관 양자대학원, 해외 선도 대학‧기업과의 협업 프로그램 등을 지원하여 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖춘 양자 혁신 인재를 양성하고, 이를 토대로 대한민국 양자 과학기술과 산업을 선도하는 대덕양자클러스터 조성을 추진하고 있다.

To this end, Daejeon City and KAIST announced that they held the opening ceremony of the ‘KAIST-MIT Quantum Information Winter School’ on the 8th at the KAIST Academic Culture Center to foster top talent that will lead to innovation in quantum science and technology.

About 50 people, including KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung, KAIST Quantum Graduate School Dean Kim Eun-seong, and MIT and KAIST professors and students, attended the event to celebrate the opening of the winter special lecture.
