‘야생생물 보호 및 관리에 관한 법률’(이하 “야생생물법”) 개정에 따라 오는 12월 14일부터 야생동물 카페와 야생동물 판매시설 등에서 살아있는 야생동물의 전시가 금지된다고 대전시가 6일 밝혔다.

이에 따라 살아있는 야생동물의 전시는‘야생생물법’개정 법률을 적용해 앞으로 허가 및 등록된 동물원 또는 수족관, 공익적 목적을 위해 법률로 규정한 야생동물 관련 시설에서만 가능하다.

다만,‘동물보호법’에 따른 반려동물, ‘축산법’에 따른 가축, 수산·해양생물 및 앵무목, 꿩과, 되새과, 납부리새과, 거북목, 독이 있는 종을 제외한 뱀목 등‘야생생물법 시행규칙’으로 정하는 일부 종은 전시가 가능하다.

대전시는‘야생생물법’개정 공포 당시(2022년 12월 13일) 영업하고 있던 기존 전시자는 12월 13일까지 야생동물 전시시설의 소재지, 보유 동물 종 및 개체수 등 현황을 대전시에 신고할 경우 신고한 동물에 한하여 2027년 12월 13일까지 전시금지가 유예된다고 밝혔다.

관련 규정을 어기고 야생동물을 전시하는 경우 2년 이하의 징역 또는 2000만 원 이하의 벌금에 처하게 된다.
