충남 서산시가 중앙호수공원에 자동차 약 300~500대를 수용할 수 있는 주차타워 신축과 약 1만 2천㎡ 면적의 녹지 조성을 추진해 초록광장을 조성한다고 30일 밝혔다.

서산시는 총사업비 659억 원을 투입해 자동차 약 300대에서 500대를 수용할 수 있는 주차타워를 신축하고, 주차타워 옥상에 약 1만 2천㎡ 면적의 녹지를 조성한다.

서산시는 거시적인 관점에서 읍내동의 시청사, 석남동의 문화예술타운, 동문동의 먹자골과 원도심, 공림지구까지 동서남북을 아우르는 지역에 (가칭)초록광장을 조성해 고질적인 도심 주차난을 해소하고, 중앙호수공원과 연계해 탄소를 흡수‧정화하는 도심의 허파로 만들 계획이라고 밝혔다.
