겨울철 미세먼지 발생이 증가하면서 대기질 오염의 원인으로 밝혀진 가운데 대전시가 미세먼지 계절관리기간인 12월 1일부터 2024년 3월 31일까지 배출가스 5등급 차량의 운행을 제한한다고 밝혔다. 

대전시에서는 그동안 5등급 차량은 고농도 미세먼지 발생으로 비상저감조치가 발령된 경우에만 운행을 제한했으나, 올해 12월부터는 미세먼지 계절관리기간(12월부터 2024년 3월)까지 제한 기간이 늘었다.

특히, 이번 계절관리기간 운행 제한은 그동안 수도권(서울·경기·인천)과 부산·대구에서만 시행됐지만, 그 외 대전·광주·울산·세종 등 특·광역시로 범위가 확대됐다.

운행 제한 단속은 평일 오전 6시부터 오후 9시까지 배출가스저감장치를 부착하지 않은 5등급 차량이 운행 제한 단속카메라(CCTV)에 적발될 경우 해당 차량 소유자에게 1일 10만 원의 과태료가 부과된다.

다만 대전시는 어려운 경제 여건 및 계절관리기간 운행 제한의 첫  해인 점을 고려하여 미세먼지 저감 및 관리에 관한 특별법에서 제외대상으로 정한 영업용, 장애인 표지부착, 국가유공자 등의 보철·생업용 등 이외에 배출가스저감장치 부착 불가 ,저공해조치 신청 ,기초생활수급자·차상위계층 ,소상공인이 보유한 차량에 대해서는 내년 11월 30일까지 한시적으로 단속에서 제외한다.
