KT&G가  민간기업으로는 유일하게 ‘대한민국 지식대상’을 지난 14일 수상했다고 밝혔다.

KT&G에 따르면  KT&G는 이날 행정안전부가 주최하는 2023년 ‘제12회 대한민국 지식대상’에서 행정안전부장관상을 수상했다.

‘대한민국 지식대상’은 지식행정·지식경영을 통해 정부 혁신과 기업 경쟁력 향상에 높은 성과를 낸 행정·공공기관과 민간기업에 수여하는 국내 지식 분야 최고 권위의 상이다. 

KT&G는 지식재산 전담 조직 신설, 지식재산권 프로세스 구축 등 체계적인 지식 경영의 성과를 인정받아 민간기업으로는 유일하게 수상기업으로 선정됐다.

KT&G는 급변하는 시장에 빠르게 대응하고자 독자적인 기술 개발 역량 강화에 집중해왔다. 

특히 차세대 시장에서의 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 위해 지식재산 관련 전담 조직을 운영해오고 있으며, 독자적인 지식재산 전산 시스템을 구축해 지식재산권을 효과적으로 관리하고 있다. 

또 직원들의 창의적인 사업 아이디어를 발굴 및 육성해 특허 출원까지 진행하는 ‘특허위크’를 진행하며 사내 연구개발 활성화와 기술혁신을 장려하고 있다.

지속적으로 추진해온 KT&G의 지식경영은 지식재산 창출로 이어져 연간 국내 특허 출원 수는 2017년 82건에서 2022년 444건으로 440% 이상 비약적으로 증가했다. 

국내 뿐만 아니라 해외출원 역시 2017년 27건에서 2022년 1,065건으로 3,800% 이상 대폭 증가했으며, 현재까지 등록된 상표권은 총 7,132건에 달한다.

이러한 지식재산 창출 성과에 힘입어 2021년 대한민국 특허청이 주최한 ‘제56회 발명의 날’ 행사에서 국가 산업 기술을 보호하고 지식재산 제도 발전에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 ‘국무총리 표창’을 수상한 데 이어, 지난해 유럽특허청이 발표한 ‘2021년 대한민국 기업 유럽특허지수’에서는 삼성과 LG에 이어 3위를 기록했다. 

또 올해는 글로벌 지식재산권 솔루션 기업인 ‘렉시스넥시스’가 선정하는 ‘혁신 모멘텀 글로벌 톱 100’ 기업에 선정되기도 했다.

조성문 KT&G R&D 본부장은 “기술 경쟁력을 바탕으로 급변하는 시장에 빠르게 대응해 온 KT&G는 앞으로도 지속적인 지식경영 고도화를 통해 국내를 넘어 글로벌 ‘톱 티어(Top-Tier)’ 기업으로 성장하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Thanks to these intellectual property creation achievements, he was awarded the ‘Prime Minister’s Citation’ in recognition of his contribution to protecting national industrial technology and developing the intellectual property system at the ‘56th Invention Day’ event hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office in 2021.

In the ‘2021 European Patent Index for Korean Companies’ announced by the European Patent Office last year, it ranked third after Samsung and LG.

Also, this year, it was selected as one of the ‘Innovation Momentum Global Top 100’ companies by ‘LexisNexis’, a global intellectual property solution company.
