최민호 세종시장이 12일 국회를 찾아 국회세종의사당 건립을 위한 국회규칙안의 조속한 통과를 촉구하고 시정 주요 현안사업의 국비 반영을 건의했다고 밝혔다.

최민호 시장은 이날 김도읍 국회법제사법위원장과 정점식·소병철 법사위 간사 등을 만나 국회세종의사당 건립 관련 국회규칙안의 조속한 법제사법위원회 상정과 통과를 당부했다.

국회세종의사당 건립을 위한 국회규칙안은 국회 운영개선소위에서 자문단까지 구성해 면밀한 검토를 거쳐 여야 만장일치로 통과됐으며, 지난달 30일 운영위 전체 회의에서 이견 없이 가결 처리됐다.

이제 법사위 심사와 본회의 의결 절차만 남겨둔 상황으로, 지역구 국회의원의 거듭된 촉구에 더해 이번 최민호 시장의 행보로 국회규칙안의 조속한 법사위 통과에 더욱 힘이 실릴 것으로 기대하고 있다. 

최민호 시장은 “국회세종의사당은 수도권 일극체제를 극복하고 전국 어디나 잘 사는 지방시대를 실현하기 위한 불가역적인 국정과제”며 “소관 상임위에서 이견 없이 통과시킨 만큼 법사위에서도 국회규칙안의 신속한 처리를 통해 힘을 실어 달라”고 당부했다.

이와 함께 최민호 시장은 세종지방법원 및 행정법원 설치를 위한 법원설치법과 행정소송법의 조속한 통과에도 힘써줄 것을 요청했다. 현재 두 법안은 2년 넘게 소관 상임위인 법사위에 계류 중이다.

국회세종의사당과 대통령 제2집무실 건립이 점차 가시화되고 있는 만큼 행정수도 완성의 마지막 남은 퍼즐로써 세종지방·행정법원 설치를 통해 사법기능을 확보할 필요성이 높다는 것이 최 시장의 판단이다.

이에 앞서 최민호 시장은 서삼석 예결위원장을 만나 국회세종의사당 부지매입비와 대통령제2집무실의 설계비 증액, 세종시 종합체육시설 및 제2 컨벤션시설 건립비 등 현안 사업의 국비 반영을 건의했다.

이어 지역구 국회의원인 홍성국, 강준현 의원과도 만나 그간 국회규칙 통과를 위해 힘써 준 노고에 감사를 표하며 시정 현안 사업이 국회 심사과정에서 반영될 수 있도록 적극적인 역할을 당부했다.
