박경귀 아산시장이 아산과 천안 남부권 연결 구상을 강조했다.

박 시장은 8일 모나밸리 컴플렉스홀에서 열린 ‘2023년 하반기 온양6동 열린간담회’에서 이같은 구상을 밝히면서 “온양6동은 ‘옛 온양’의 영화가 다시 찾아오는 시기가 다가오고 있다”고 말했다. 

지역 국회의원, 기관단체장, 주민 등 200여 명이 참석한 이날 간담회에서 주민들은 주은아파트~동신초 장항선 철도 육교 승강기 교체 ,금융기관 유치 ,온양천 지방하천 정비사업 구간 확장 ,유구 방면 도로 4차선 확포장 및 방지턱 보수 ,초원아파트 주차장 확보 등을 건의했다. 

이 자리에서 박 시장은 “온양6동은 온양의 원뿌리다. 세종대왕이 심신을 회복한 고마움으로 온양현에서 온양군으로 승격시켰을 당시 관청이 이곳의 온주아문이다”라며 “내년부터 온양을 살리려 한다. 온양6동 주민들이 긍지를 갖고 함께 협조해주시길 당부드린다”고 운을 뗐다.

박 시장은 또 “북동부권은 이미 상당 부분 개발이 이뤄졌고 풍기역 지구부터 읍내동, 좌부동, 법곡동, 신인동으로 이어지는 남부권 개발 상황이 다가왔다”며 “원도심이 빼곡히 채워졌기 때문에 온양6동의 여유 공간으로 도시가 자연스럽게 확장될 수밖에 없다”고 설명했다.
