더불어민주당 아산시의원(이하 민주당 의원)들이 박경귀 아산시장의 지방선거 공약에 대한 예산에 대해 원점에서 재검토하겠다는 의사를 밝혀 집행부와 갈등이 예상된다.

민주당 의원들은 8일 성명을 발표하고 박 시장 공약 예산 재검토 의지를 천명했다.

이들은 성명서에서 “지난 5일, 박경귀 아산시장은 1심 재판부에서 당선 무효형을 훨씬 웃도는 벌금 1500만원을 선고받았다. 이날 선고로 박 시장이 허위 사실로 시장직에 올랐다는 것이 재확인됐다”며 박 시장의 1심 판결을 거론했다.

민주당 의원들은 이어 “특히 검찰 구형량인 800만원보다 매우 높은 형을 받았다는 것은 그만큼 박 시장의 죄질이 매우 안 좋다는 의미다”고 지적해 박 시장의 1심 판결에 대한 법원의 판단을 해석했다.

성명서에서 민주당 의원들은 “더불어민주당 아산시의원 일동은 제1회 추가경정예산안 심의를 앞둔 시점에서 시민들의 혈세가 낭비되지 않도록 시민의 눈으로 시정을 감시할 것을 시민들께 약속드리겠다”고 밝히고, “박 시장의 공약을 원점에서 재검토하겠다. 막대한 예산이 수반되는 박 시장 공약을 아산시가 무리하게 추진시켜서는 안 될 것”이라는 입장을 전했다.

박 시장에 대한 법원의 1심 판결 결과에 대해 민주당 의원들은 “약 1년간 시정의 공백이 우려되는 상황이다”고 우려를 나타내고, “더불어민주당 아산시의원 일동은 시정의 혼란은 최소화하고, 행정 안의 무너진 합리성을 다시 복원하는 데에 최선을 다하겠다”고 거듭 약속을 했다.

한편 대전지법 천안지원은 지난 5일 허위사실 공표 혐의로 재판에 넘겨진 박경귀 아산시장에 대한 1심 판결에서 검찰이 구형한 벌금 800만 원을 넘어선 1500만 원을 선고했다.
