계룡시가 추진해온 병영체험관이 준공했다.

계룡시는 병영안보체험 메카 조성을 위해 그동안 야심차게 추진해 온 병영체험관 건립공사를 마무리하고 19일 준공식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

19일 준공식을 개최한 병영체험관은 계룡시 신도안면 남선리에 대지 면적 1만 4258㎡, 연면적 2999㎡에 국비 6억원, 도비 34억원, 시비 92억원 등 총 132억원의 사업비를 투입해 지난 2021년 9월 착공해 지하 1층, 지상 3층 규모로 조성됐다.

병영체험관은 VR체험관과 세미나실, 병영체험 생활관, 야외 전시광장 및 실외정원 등으로 구성돼 있으며, 시는 오늘 10월 6일부터 10일까지 예정돼 있는 ‘2023계룡군문화축제’ 기간 동안 시험운영을 거쳐 내년 3월 정식 개관할 예정이다.

시는 시험운영 기간 동안 시설·운영 등의 보완점을 집중 점검할 예정으로 병영체험관이 우리나라를 대표하는 병영안보체험의 산실로 거듭날 수 있도록 행·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않을 방침이다.

아울러 육․해․공군 대표 군사 문화재 설치와 실외 불빛정원을  2023계룡軍문화축제 전에 완성하고 나아가 軍문화를 소재로 한 독창적이고 차별화된 밀리터리 미디어아트 전시관도 설치할 예정이다.

계룡시는 병영체험관이 개관하면 전국에서 유일하게 진행되는 軍과 함께하는 1박 2일 숙박형 프로그램을 통해 애국심과 안보의식 함양은 물론 다양한 병영생활 및 훈련 체험으로 참가자에게 잊지 못할 추억을 선사할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

이날 준공식에는 이응우 시장, 계룡시의회 김범규 의장과 시의원, 각 기관·사회단체장, 軍 관계자, 주민 등 200여 명이 참석했다.

이응우 시장은 “병영체험관 건립으로 군사도시로서의 지역정체성 확립은 물론 관광객 유입, 일자리 창출 등 지역경제 활성화에도 크게 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다”고 말했다.
