시니어 모델 봉사활동으로 제2의 인생을 살고 있는 여운상 전 대전시의원(한국시니어모델연합회 회장)이 시니어모델 활동을 통해 건강도 챙기고 즐거움도 챙기는 두마리 토끼를 잡고 있다는 말을 시작으로 그간의 활동 사항을 전했다.

 

16일 한국시니어모델협회 간무들과 대전시의회를 찾은 여운상 전 의원은 대전시의회 3대 의원을 지낸 정치인으로 정계를 은퇴한 후 봉사와 참여 활동을 하면서 제2 인생을 시작했다고 전했다.

그는 한국시니어모델연합회(이하 모델협회)를 결성해 회장을 맡았고, 모델로서 제2의 인생을 살아가는 사람들과 함께 대전시의회에서 인터뷰를 가졌다.

 

이날 인터뷰에 함께 참석한 모델협회 임원들은 총 4명으로 인터뷰에 참여한 이들 임원들은 모델활동을 하게된 경위와 모델활동을 하면서 얻는 즐거움과 건강에 대한 얘기를 이어갔다.

먼저  한연순(71)모델은 본래 강직성 척추라는 희귀질환을 앓아 허리가 5~10도 정도 휘어있었지만, 모델활동을 시작한 이후 허리가 정상으로 돌아왔고, 사업을 하면서 정신적으로 힘든 것도 극복하는 계기가 됐다고 시니어 모델로서의 삶의 즐거움을 표현했다.

 

또한 함께 자리한 회원 중 최연소인 김가린(58)모델은 시니어 모델 업계에서는 고급 인력(?)으로 통하고 있다고 여운상 회장이 귀뜸했다.

김가린 이사는 현재 여러 지자체에서 홍보대사로 활동 하는 등 유명세를 타고 있다고 전했다.

 

특히 논산 딸기 홍보대사와 망고·참외모델 등의 다양한 활동을 펼쳤지만 그에게도 암 투병이라는 뼈아픈 과거가 있었다고 한다.

 

김가린 모델은 7년 전 유방암으로 투병할 때 유방암 환우들의 모임인 ‘핑크 리본’에서 봉사활동을 하면서 '우리가 기쁘게 살면 암도 이긴다'는 생각을 확고이 해 모델 재능 기부을 하고 있으며 "암도 이기고 사는데 못 이길 것이 없다라는 생각이 들고 자신감이 생겼다"고 전했다.

이명화(67) 모델은 젊을 적 패션계에 관심이 많아 모델의 꿈을 갖고 있었다고 말했다.

 

그러나 그 시절 시대상이 반영하듯 가정형편상 꿈을 이루지 못했고, 그럼에도 제2의 인생에서 자신의 젊은 시절 꿈을 뒤늦게나마 이뤄 행복한 삶을 살고 있다고 전했다.

윤홍순(65)모델은 25년간 화장품 세일즈일을 해오다 퇴직했으며 일을 하면서 스포츠닥터스와 함께 봉사활동을 다니기도 했다.

 

주요 봉사활동은 화장품을 한다는 재능을 살려 어르신들의 영정사진을 찍을때 더욱 아름답게 만들어주는 메이크업 봉사활동을 이어오다가 지금은 메이크업 봉사와 함께 모델로써 제2의 인생을 살고 있다.

 

이날 함께 자리한 송활섭 대전시의회 운영위원장은 “시니어 모델의 봉사 정신을 받아 ‘대전 0시 축제’ 무대에 설 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 약속했다.

 

앞만 보고 살아왔던 인생에서 2막의 삶은 소중한 의미로 만들어가고 있는 전직 시의원 여운상 시니어 모델 회장을 만나 협동하고 배려하는 새로운 삶에 대해 이야기를 들어봤다.

다음은 여운상 한국시니어모델연합회장과의 일문일답이다.

 

의원직을 그만 둔 이후 마음이 어떤가?

 

"시원섭섭했다. 시의원 그만두고 신탄진 신협 이사장 8년하고 나이가 70세가 넘었었는데 세상이 다 허전하고 나만 혼자 있는 것 같은 느낌이 들었다. 우연히 tv를 보다가 대덕대학교에서 시니어 모델 수업이 있다고 해서 입학을 하고 지금 5년 반을 거기서 수업을 받고 새로운 인생을 살고 있다"

한국시니어모델연합회는 어떻게 만들어 졌나?

 

"작년에 조종국 전 대전시의회 의장님이 있는 한국예술문화 진흥회에서 시니어 모델활동을 봉사하는 마음으로 하고 있는 것을 알고 호의적으로 도와주셔서 한국예술문화 진흥회 산하단체로 사단법인을 만들게 됐다. 그래서 이번에 대덕 물빛 축제에 21명의 시니어 모델이 참여해 재능기부를 펼치기도 했다.

 

현재 한국시니어모델 연합회 규모와 활동은?

 

"35명의 회원이 활동하고 있다. 모델 활동을 하면서 연기 연습과 이미지 관리, 바른 자세 등의 모습을 보이기 위해 노력하고 있다. 특히 우리들은 이웃 돕기에 목적을 두고 있다. 대부분의 회원이 사업을 하고 있어 재능을 기부하려고 하고 있다. 지금 연합회에서 임원을 맡고 계신 분들은 취미를 넘어 본 직업보다 더 많은 열정을 가지고 활동하고 있다."

한국시니어모델 연합회장으로서 앞으로 계획은 무엇인가?

 

기관이나 단체에서 행사를 할 때 저희를 초청하면 사회 환원 차원에서 열심히 하겠다. 

 

특히 모델 활동을 통해 배운 반듯한 자세를 통해 노인분들 '지팡이 버리기 운동'을 펼치겠다. 지팡이 버리기 운동은 모델 워킹처럼 걷는 연습(훈련)을 가르치면 짧은 시간에 많은 효과가 있다.  

 

습관적으로 약간 비틀어진 걸음 걸이는 저희들과 같이 하면 얼마든지 바른자세로 걸을 수 있다. 앞으로 기회가 되면 경로당을 찾아가서라도 지팡이 버리기 운동을 벌이겠다."고 말했다.

윤종명 전 대전시의회 운영위원장의 역할은?

 

"현재 대잰시의회 의정회에서 사무총장을 맡아 신구 의원등이 협력하는 분위기를 만들고 있다. 사무총장으로서 이렇게 좋은 자리도 만들어 주고 현역 의원시절 의회에서 운영위원장을 했던 분이라 시니어모델연합회가 왕성하게 활동하는 데 있어 많은 부분을 책임감 있게 처리해 주고 계신다. 항상 고맙게 생각한다."
