정월대보름은 전통적으로 농사의 시작일이라 하여 큰 명절로 여겨졌고, 전통 세시 풍속을 재연하고 즐기면서 주민 모두의 화합과 안녕을 기원했다.

대보름날 자정을 전후로 마을 제사를 지내면서 마을의 평안과 안녕을 빌었고, 오곡밥을 지어 먹고, 달맞이와 달집태우기, 지신밟기, 쥐불놀이 등 전통 놀이를 하는 것으로 대보름 행사가 열렸다.

대전시 5개 자치구에서도 정월대보름을 맞아 자치구별로 다체로운 대보름 행사가 개최됐다.

먼저 대전 동구에서는 지난 3일부터 4일까지 정월대보름을 맞아 3일 '대청호반 정월대보름 행사'가 올해 22번재로 개최됐고, 4일에는 대동 장승제와 중앙동 소제당산제, 용운동 탑제, 가양2동 산신제 및 거리제 등 대보름 행사가 열렸다.

대전 중구에서는 지난 3일 느티나무목신제보존회 주관으로 태평1동 느티나무 쉼터에서 액막이소리, 목신제례, 주민화합한마당, 풍물놀이 등프로그램을 중심으로 ‘제26회 느티나무 목신제’가 열렸다.

이 외에도 중구에서는 정월대보름을 맞아 유천동 버드내거리제보존위원회 주관으로 ‘25회 버드내거리제’가 열렸고, ‘2023년 한절골당산제’가 지난 3일 대사동풍물단의 공연을 시작으로 보문오거리 시(市) 보호수 재단에서 개최됐다.

지난 4일에는 ‘2023년 무수동 산신제’가 무수동산신제보존회 주관으로 무수동 운람산과 유회당 종가에서 산신제 봉행, 장승·짐대놀이, 대보름 음식 나누기, 소원성취 기원제, 달집태우기 등 다양한 행사를 펼쳤다.

대전 서구에서는 지난 3일 갈마동자생단체협의회 주관으로 '갈마울 목신제'라는 전통 민속축제를 53회째 개최됐고, 도마큰시장 정월대보름 행사도 개최돼 시장상인들의 한해 안녕과 번영을 기원했다.

서구에서는 또 대전 신도시로 부상한 도안동 용소터에서 '용소터 대보름제'가 개최됐고, 대보름을 맞아 서구 괴정동 목신제가 주민들의 소원성취를 기원하면서 개최됐다.

대전 유성구에서는 이달 3일부터 5일까지 정월대보름 맞이 민속행사를 개최했다.

3일 오후 4시부터 6시까지 유성구청 앞 벽천분수 인근에서 개최된 정월대보름제 행사에는 소원등 만들기, 전통놀이 체험 등이 준비됐으며, 각 동 풍물단이 참여하는 길놀이가 유성구청 앞~유성문화원까지 이어졌다.

대전 대덕구에서는 신탄진동 현도교 아래 금강변 둔치에서 어제 제24회 ‘신탄진대보름쥐불놀이축제’가 열렸다.

이날 축제에서는 소원 고사 지내기, 초청공연, 달집태우기, 불꽃놀이 등이 열렸다.
