김영환 충북지사가 지난 5일 충북도청에서 원희룡 국토교통부장관과 가진  충청권 4개 시.도협력회의(이하 협력회의)에서 최민호 세종시장의 발언을 의식해 세종시민 자존심을 저격하는 글을 SNS에 올리면서 파문이 일고있다.

 

김 지사는 지난 6일 자신의 사회관계망서비스(SNS) 계정을 통해 협력회의에서 최민호 세종시장이 국토부장관에게 건의한 'KTX세종역 신설' 건의에 대한 발언과 관련 세종시를 '충청 밉상' 이라 폄훼하는 글을 올렸다.

 

지난 5일 협력회의에서 최민호 세종시장은 원 장관에게 KTX세종역 신설의 필요성을 강조하면서 역 신설을 건의 했었다.

 

김 지사는 이 같은 최 시장의 KTX세종역 신설 건의가 불편했던지 노골적인 감정을 들어내면서 세종시를 "충청권 단결을 해치는 충청 밉상"이라고 불편한 심기의 글을 올렸다.

 

그는 특히 "세종시는 본래의 목적에서 이탈하여 하마처럼 공룡이 되어 무한확장하면서 충청권의 인구를 깎아먹어 충청밉상이 되어가고 있다"는 표현으로 지역민심을 자극했다.

 

충북도는 그동안 KTX세종역 신설 움직임에 대해 곱지않은 시선을 보낸것이 사실이다.

 

충북도는 KTX세종역이 신설되면 충북에 위치한 오송역이 상대적으로 위축될 것이라는 우려를 가지고 있었고, 반대 입장을 고수해왔다.

 

김 지사도 이날 SNS에 올린 글에서 "세종시 KTX역은 교량과 터널사이에 기술적으로 설치가 불가능하고 이미 결론이 난 문제인데 고집을 하니 .."라면서 최 시장의 건의를 불편해 했다.

 

김영환 지사의 글은 충청권 4개 시.도가 협력을 통해 상생발전을 추구해야 한다는 공동의 노력에 찬물을 끼얹으면서 '파열음'이 발생했다는 지적이다.

 

자칫 지역간 감정싸움으로 비화될 조짐까지 보이면서 우려의 목소리가 높아지고 있다.

 

당시 최민호 시장은 원 장관에게 "진정한 지역주도 균형발전 시대를 열기 위해서는 충청권 간 교통망 확충이 시급하다"는 발언과 함께 "KTX세종역 신설이 필요하다"고 건의했었다.

 

최 시장의 건의와 관련해 김 지사는 "광역철도가 곧 대전-세종-오송-청주도심을 지나게되니, 그렇게되면 세종-오송이 12분대로 단축된 그 이후에 판단하면 되고, 마침 오송-청주고속도로도 완공될 터이니 좀더 두고 볼일"이라는 의견을 밝혔었다.

실제 김 지사의 주장이 알려지자 세종지역에서는 지역 정치권과 시민들이 즉각 반발하고 나섰다.

 

더불어민주당 세종시당(이하 민주당)은 7일 김 지사 발언관련 논평을 내고 최민호 시장의 입장을 촉구했다.

 

민주당은 논평에서 "김영환 지사의 글은 행정수도 세종을 부정하는 것과 다르지 않다"며 "최민호 시장은 김 지사의 글에 입장을 내놔야 할 것"이라며 최 시장의 대응을 요구했다.

 

시민들도 김 지사의 글에 대한 비난에 나섰다.

 

시민들은 김 시자를 겨냥해 '충청밉상은 바로 도지사님','하나만 알고 둘은 모르는 분','10년째 세종시 수도 위상을 세우는데 발목잡고 끌어내리는 충북' 등 비난성 글을 올렸다.

 

특히 일부 시민은 '같은 정당끼리 이게 무슨 짓이냐, 격 떨어지게 공개 비난이라니요?' 라는 글을 올려 김 지사의 글을 격 떨어진 글로 폄하 하기도 했다.
