대전시의회 이상래 의장이 2027년 세계대학경기대회 충청권 유치와 관련 "충청권이 화합하고 단결하면 못할 것이 없다"고 말했다.

이 의장은 15일 대전시의회 기자실에서 언론 브리핑을 가진 자리에서 이번 유치전을 다녀온 소회를 밝히며 이 같이 자신감 있는 발언을 했다.

먼저 이 의장은 이번 대회 유치와 관련해 "집행부하고 협력해서 적극적 유치가 됐으니까 성공적으로 치러져야 할 것"이라며" 3박5일 짧은 일정이지만, 느낀점은 충청권이 화합하고 단합하면 못할 것이 없지 않나. 대한민국을 잘 이끌어갔으면 좋겠다"고 말했다.

이 의장은 "향후 4년이 중요하다고 생각한다"고 말하고 "의회에서도 적절하게 대응할 부분은 대응하고, 협력하면서 성공적 마무리 지을 수 있게 하겠다"는 말로 의회차원의 지원을 피력했다.

그는 이번 유치전전에 참여하면서 "처음에는 반반 정도로 생각했으나 최종 투표결과 배 이상 차이가 났다며 충청권이 화합해서 의욕적으로 유치를 한 것이 좋은 결과를 낳은 것으로 보인다"고 말했다.
 
이 의장은 이번 유치전에서 충청권이 개최지로 확정된 결정적 요인으로 대회참가비를 들었다.

이 의장에 따르면 세계대학경기대회 참가비는 70유로인데 이를 20유로로 대폭 낮춘 것이 주효했다고 생각한다며 충청권 유치에 참가비가 결정적인 역할을 했다고 전했다.

이날 이 의장은 정책지원관 추가 선발에 대한 의견도 제시했다.

이 의장은 "정책지원관 5명이 현재 들어와 계신데, 지원조건이 석사 이상 등 분야에서 경력을 쌓은 사람을 뽑게 돼 있다. 한 단계 더 내다보고 좋은 분들 6명 뽑으려고 한다"고 말했다.
