대전 유성구 도룡동 엑스포과학공원의 한빛탑 물빛광장이 8월 31일 광주 김대중컨벤션센터에서 열린 2022 대한민국 조경대상 시상식에서 문화체육관광부 장관상을 수상했다.

대전관광공사는 대전엑스포93 이후 낙후된 엑스포과학공원을 되살리기 위해 광장과 엑스포다리 사이를 가로 막고 있던 옹벽과 낡은 음악분수 및 보도블록을 철거하고, 광장에 새로운 미적 디자인과 감성을 품은 물빛광장과 음악분수를 새롭게 조성하였으며, 한빛탑 미디어파사드와 함께 대전의 대표적인 야간명소로 재탄생하였다. 특히 여름철 무더위를 식혀주는 시민들의 쉼터로도 각광을 받고 있다.

장관상 시상대에는 운영사인 대전관광공사와 함께 설계를 담당한 ㈜해안종합건축사사무소와 시공사인 ㈜신세계건설 관계자들도 함께 참석하여 의미를 더했다.

대전관광공사 민병운 사장권한대행은 “시민들의 휴식처로 거듭난 한빛탑 물빛광장이 대전을 대표하는 아름다운 조경시설로 선정된 것을 모든 시민들과 함께 기뻐한다.”고 말하고, “대전을 넘어 세계 어느 곳과 견주어도 손색없는 명품 공원이 되도록 노력할 것”이라고 말했다.

Hanbit Tower Mulbit Square in Expo Science Park in Doryong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, won the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the 2022 Korea Landscape Awards ceremony held at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju on August 31st.

Daejeon Tourism Organization demolished the retaining wall, the old music fountain and sidewalk block that blocked the plaza and the Expo Bridge to revive the deteriorating Expo Science Park after Daejeon Expo 93. A fountain was newly created, and along with the Hanbit Tower Media Facade, it was reborn as a representative night spot in Daejeon.
