지난 4월 25일 ‘사천공천’에 불복, 더불어민주당을 탈당했던 김인식 대전광역시의원이 국민의힘 입당과 함께 이장우 국민의힘 대전광역시장 후보 선거대책위원회에 합류를 선언했다.

김인식 시의원은 16일 오전 10시 대전광역시의회 기자실에서 이장우 국민의힘 대전시장 후보와 함께 ‘국민의힘 입당 성명서’를 발표하고 “무너진 풀뿌리 자치의 시민권익을 국민의힘 승리를 통해 실현하겠다”는 의지를 밝혔다.
 
김인식 시의원은 성명서를 통해 지난 24년 민주당으로 헌신한 시간을 회고하면서 더불어민주당의 비민주적인 행태를 조목조목 비판했다.

그는 더불어민주당을 떠나 국민의힘 입당 이유로 첫째 희대의 ‘공천사기극’을 자행한 더불어민주당의 비민주적인 행태, 안희정 전충남도지사, 박원순 서울시장, 오거돈 부산시장, 박완주 의원으로 점철되며 한국정치를 더럽힌 더불어민주당의 ‘성비위’, 오만과 독선으로 밀어붙인 ‘검수완박’, 당원의 권리를 짓밟고 무능한 허태정 시장 승리에만 눈먼 서구청장 경선과 경선 등을 적시하며 “20여 년간 제 정치적 생명과 자부심이었던 더불어민주당을 떠나 국민의힘에서 못다 이룬 풀뿌리 민주주의와 지방자치의 꿈을 실천하겠다”고 밝혔다.
 
김인식 시의원은 김대중 정부 당시 새천년민주당에 몸담은 이후 2006년부터 5~8대 대전광역시의원으로 활동하면서 중앙당 부대변인 10년 등 활동과 함께 민선 7기 대전광역시의회에서는 여성으로는 첫 의장을 역임했고, 민여협 상임대표와 한국여성정치연맹 중앙상무위원으로 활동하는 등 대전을 대표하는 여성 정치인이다.
 
특히 대전시의원으로 영유아 교육과 복지, 교육공무직 직고용제를 비롯한 처우 개선, 장기요양보호기관 등 어르신 복지 등에 전념하며 대전시민의 권익을 높이는데 앞장서왔다.

지난 대선에는 이재명 후보 중앙선거대책위원회 공정과 평화포럼 상임공동대표로 활동하기도 했다.
 
김인식 시의원은 국민의힘 입당과 함께 이장우 대전시장 후보 선거대책위원회에서 시민통합 및 직능총괄선대위원장으로 활동할 것으로 알려졌다.
