더불어민주당 대전시 중구청장 공천을 신청했던 홍종원 대전시의원이 중구 황운하 국회의원을 향해 독설을 날리면서 각을 세웠다.

25일 대전시의회 기자실에서 기자회견을 연 홍 의원은 먼저 자신을 시의원 공천에서 배제 시키고 황 의원 비서관을 공천한 것과 관련 황 의원이 챙긴 비서관에 대한 전과 경력을 공개했다.

황 의원을 향해 홍 의원은 "황 의원님~~제 지역구에 시의원 공천을 줘야해서, 결격사유나 하자가 전혀 없는  현역 시의원인 저를 배제 시키고 공천을 준 후보가 전과 3범이라는 사실을 알고 계시는지요?"라는 질문을 던지고 구체적인 전과 사실을 공개했다.

홍 의원이 공개한 전과 사실은 해당 후보가 선관위에 등록한 사항으로 해당 후보는 음주운전 2건과 업무상과실치상 및 과실치사 1건 등 총 3건의 전과 사실을 공개했다.

홍 의원은 또 음주운전 전과 가운데 1개는 2014년 10월 30일 적발된 것으로 벌금 300만원으로 이같은 수준이라면 면허취소 수준이라는 경찰의 의견도 전했다.

특히 해당 후보는 이때 제7대 대전서구의원으로 있을때로, 주민을 대표하는 공인으로서 더큰 책임감과 윤리의식을 가지고 행동에 책임을 져야하는 신분인데도 음주운전 죄를 저질렀다는 것은 선출직을 희망하는 사람으로서 있을 수 없는 일이라고 생각 한다고 입장을 전했다.

홍 의원은 그러면서 황 의원에게 “이렇게 음주운전 2건 포함 전과 3건의 경력을 가지고 있으며, 중구에서는 전혀 활동을 한적이 없고 도리어 서구의원까지 하며 최근 예비후보 등록을 위해 중구로 주소를 이전한 예비후보가 현역시의원인 저보다 어떤 경쟁력을 가졌기에 현역 시의원을 공천배제하고 이런 말도 안되는 사람을 공천 한 건지 구체적인 경쟁력의 판단기준과 그 사유를 밝혀달라”고 요청했다.

홍 의원은 또 “이러한 말도 안되는 공천결정은 우리 민주당의 지방선거 필패의 지름길이며, 우리 중구민 아니 제 지역구 목동,중촌동,용두동,오류동,태평1동,태평2동 주민을 무시한 처사이며 주민분들의 자존심을 심하게 훼손했다는 점을 말씀드리며, 답변을 부탁한다”면서 황 의원의 공식적인 답변을 요구했다.
