[Daejeon City decided to mix wired/wireless power supply for tram line 2]

Daejeon Metropolitan City Mayor Heo Tae-jeong held a regular briefing on the 28th and explained about the decision to mix wired and non-wireless cables for tram feeding on Metro Line 2, the expansion of 10 stations, and the promotion of the urban rail network construction plan to expand new routes.

At the briefing on the same day, Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jung announced that based on the Urban Railroad Technology Expert Committee and Tram Policy Advisory Committee that had been held so far, the power supply method for Line 2 would be promoted as a battery method-based wired/wireless hybrid method, which is a result of national research and development (R&D).

The city of Daejeon plans to receive technical proposals in a way that, while using the 10.5km length that can be realized with the currently confirmed battery technology as the standard for the wiring section, additional points are awarded during the vehicle bidding to shorten the wiring section.

In addition, as continuous battery technology development is expected in the future, after the opening of Line 2, the battery replacement period (expected in 5 to 7 years) is planning to reduce the cable line section.

The location of the wiring will be announced at the time of selection of the vehicle manufacturer according to the three general principles and six detailed criteria determined by the committee.
In general, the criteria for selecting a wiring section are determined by receiving a technical proposal based on △10.5km, △using only 40~50% of the battery capacity to secure reserve power and battery life in case of emergency, △selecting each station at each station and detailed criteria Selected as △ Active utilization of underground sections such as Seodaejeon Overpass, △ Priority review of steep slope sections, △Excluding intersection curve sections, △Excluding narrow road sections and large intersection sections △Others (considering whether additional stops are installed, impact on street landscape, etc.) do.

On the other hand, hydrogen-type trams, which were once discussed, are currently excluded due to technical uncertainty, but according to the recommendation of the committee, they plan to review the application of new routes in the future.

Daejeon plans to complete the underground cable underground project in the tram oil line section by 2027 and expand it to the entire section of Line 2 in the long term.

In addition, the city decided to add 10 stations to the existing 35 stations on Line 2, for a total of 45 stations.

This is a measure to increase the accessibility and effectiveness of public transportation for citizens, since the average interval between the existing Line 2 stops is 1,050m, which is longer than the overseas average of 500~700m.

In addition to the two locations near Daejeon Station announced in May last year, three additional locations, including Daejeon Museum, Yonggye, and Daejeong, were added in consideration of the increase in demand due to the second and third phases of the design development. Two locations including the township will be added to Daedeok-gu.

In addition, additional stops will be installed in commercial and residential areas such as Government House 4-Gateori, Sammeori Park, and Yucheon Negeori.

The exact location of the additional stop will be revealed at the public hearing for the change of the urban railroad master plan scheduled for the second half of this year.
If 10 stations are added, the average distance between stations will become denser to 840m, which is expected to increase the convenience of citizens.

Earlier, since September of last year, the city has been promoting the urban rail network construction plan, which is a legal plan for the expansion of new routes.

Accordingly, it plans to draw up a plan for a new route and branch network within 50km of this year, and start a preliminary feasibility study and basic plan establishment in 2024 after collecting public opinions and government approval next year.

Through this, the new urban railway project will start construction in 2028 and complete in 2033.

The new line expansion plan is based on the judgment that the construction cost of the subway line 2 tram, which is currently being promoted, is 1/3 of that of the high-priced maglev method and 1/5 of that of the subway method, so there is sufficient investment capacity for the new line.

Through this, the city has a total length of 166 km along with Line 1 (22.6 km), Line 2 (37.8 km), Chungcheong region railway Gyeryong-Shintanjin (35.4 km) and Daejeon-Okcheon (20.1 km), and has a city + metropolitan railway network with a total length of 166 km. is expected to increase significantly.
