국토교통부가 29일 대전을 혁신도시로 지정 고시했다.

대전혁신도시 지정 최종 관문이라 할 수 있는 관보에 고시함으로써 혁신도시 지정 절차가 최종 마무리됐다.

대전시에 따르면 대전 혁신도시 지정은 지난 8일 제28차 국가균형발전위원회 본회의를 통과하고 국토교통부의 관보 고시만을 남겨둔 상황이었다.

이로써 지난 2005년 국토 균형발전을 위한 혁신도시 지정에서 대전이 제외된 이후 15년 넘게 염원했던 숙원 사업이 해결됐다.

앞으로 대전시는 선택과 집중을 해서 공공기관을 유치하고 4차산업혁명을 선도하는 대한민국 혁신성장의 거점 ,원도심 활성화를 통한 균형발전의 신모델로 혁신도시를 조성해 나갈 계획이다.

한편 대전시는 대전혁신도시로 동구 대전역세권과 대덕구 연축동을 지정 한 바 있다.
